Gli spazi esterni di Italia 10.98 invitano l’equipaggio a godere della vita all’aperto, in navigazione come in rada. Due comode panche fanno da cornice al pozzetto, uno dei più grandi della categoria, completamente rivestito in teak.

Il dislocamento di appena 4.500 Kg di Italia 10.98 è paragonabile a quello di una barca da regata. Attente scelte progettuali le conferiscono massima rigidità strutturale, unitamente ad un’estrema leggerezza. Scafo e coperta vengono laminati a temperatura controllata in sandwich, con anime in PVC a densità differenziata impregnate con resina vinilestere, per rendere lo scafo praticamente inattaccabile da fenomeni di osmosi. Un ragno scatolare con rinforzi in carbonio è laminato su stampo femmina sul fondo dello scafo e poi incollato e fazzolettato.

Entrambe le versioni di Italia 9.98 condividono materiali e medesime caratteristiche costruttive. Scafo e coperta sono costruiti in sandwich con anime in PVC a densità variabile. Le pelli sono costituite da rinforzi in vetro biassiali e unidirezionali impregnati con resina vinilestere. Il ragno strutturale comprende i rinforzi del fondo scafo e alcune parti dei mobili interni, creando un’unica struttura che convoglia i carichi dell’albero, la pinna e le sartie. Scafo e coperta sono finiti in gelcoat, ponte e zone calpestabili sono trattate con antisdrucciolo ricavato da stampo.

Le linee di coperta sono state modellate cercando il miglior compromesso tra ergonomia delle manovre e degli spazi e volumi interni, tenendo naturalmente in grande considerazione l’aspetto estetico. Grazie alle forme avviate e agli smussi è stata ottenuta una geometria a basso impatto aerodinamico e un look asciutto e moderno. L’importanza di ottenere dei flussi puliti attorno alla tuga hanno rappresentato il filo conduttore per i progettisti che hanno disegnato una coperta funzionale, ergonomicamente efficiente e sicura, adeguata sia alla navigazione con equipaggio che con equipaggio ridotto. Esteriormente, Italia 9.98 Club differisce dalla più aggressiva versione Fuoriserie per la timoneria con due ruote anzichè con la barra, le panche pozzetto rivestite in teak sintetico (opzionale) e una delfiniera integrata.

We can’t deny it: with this new model Italia Yachts wants to repeat, and if possible improve, the prestigious results obtained with the Italia 9.98, multi-winner in all regatta fields all over the world and also winner of two ORC World Championships in 2015 and 2016. But we want to do it starting from a completely new project, which makes the adaptability its most distinctive feature. Italia 11.98 is indeed a unique boat, designed with a special attention to the different international regulations, in particular ORC and IRC. The possibilities of customization in race perspective are many, in order to satisfy both professional top teams and passionate sailors: each one will be able to benefit of the basic features of Italia 11.98, improving the accessories according to the expected level of use. In the ORC regulation, Italia 11.98 is optimized to be the largest boat in Group C. In the top-of-the-line configuration, the boat can be also equipped with carbon mast, carbon boom, bow piston and carbon tiller. Italia 11.98 also offers solutions specifically designed for offshore regattas, also in reduced crew.

The constructive parameters of Italia 11.98 are the same of each Italia Yachts model, in order to guarantee the maximum lightness, stiffness, safety and durability. Italia 11.98 is proposed in just one version with no difference in terms of construction, water lines or materials, either to be arranged in racing edition or in bellissima edition.

The hull and deck are built of sandwich cores with PVC with different densities depending on the construction needs. The skins are laid in E-glass (mat, mats and unidirectional) impregnated with vinylester resin. The lamination is performed at a controlled temperature between 16 °C and 25 °C. Reinforcing plates are inserted in corrispondance of the equipment deck. The central part of the hull is full laminated to improve the resistance to concentrated efforts. All bulkheads are marine plywood from 15 to 25 mm and are bonded to the hull and gusseted to the internal structure and the deck. The deck is bonded with structural adhesive and laminated internally. A structural carbon frame is placed inside the hull glued and gusseted, to share the efforts of the mast and the rigging and bulkheads and furniture are fixed over the same. The deck is finished with gelcoat surfaces; the bridge and walkable areas are finished with antiskid from the female mold.The benches and the cockpit are finished in teak 10 mm.

The hull lines of Italia 12.98 contemplate a proper balance between comfort and performance, borrowing the fluid concepts developed for the 9.98 “fuoriserie” with regard to the distribution of
volumes, while maintaining the key features for the interior in perfect cruising style. The fore and aft rake are more obvious than the other models of the yard. The result is a smaller wetted surface area for the benefit of performance in light wind conditions. The hull has flared sections, with narrow waterlines and V-shaped bow sections. Aft waterlines sections allow a variabile dynamic length, short in light wind, longer with increasing speed. The aspects related to navigation comfort are very cared, thanks to a careful study on the longitudinal trim and symmetrical volumes while heeled, as well as in the concentration of the weights as much as possible to limit the pitching.

Hull and deck of Italia 13.98 are built in sandwich “E-glass” laminated with vinylester resins applied at a controlled temperature. Reinforced plates are inserted in correspondence of deck equipment, while the central strip of the hull is full laminated. All bulkheads are bonded to the hull and fixed with the internal structure and deck. This is superimposed to the hull, glued with structural adhesive and fixed internally.

The ergonomics of the deck of Italia 13.98 has been studied in detail: the space in the cockpit is at the top of the class, the sunbathing area on roof is flat and smooth, five lockers provide plenty of space for storage during cruising with a deep sail locker in the bow separated from the anchor locker. The double helm allows excellent control and a smooth ride towards the cockpit. The opening transom is perfect for a dry and safe navigation, as to enjoy an easy access to the sea. Particular attention was also given to obtain a clean deck: all maneuvers run below the deck. The trimming of all maneuvers is exemplary, both for a solitary sailing, with the mainsail winches that can easily be used by the helmsman, both in crew, even in race. The equipment is at the top level, with all winches oversized, rolling ball bearings blocks, a high performance mast, all the running rigging is made of technical fibers, the rod rigging and hydraulic backstay. All padeyes for the gennaker circuit are already fitted as standard, as well as the under deck jib furler.

In the central part of the boat the structure consists of a grid of galvanized steel stringers and floors, to ensure a high resistance to concentrated loads and allow a greater capacity of the fuel and water tanks, all seats in the lower and central zone. On this structure, insist loads of keel, mast and chainplates. In other areas the structure continues with stringers and floors made of fiberglass, reinforced with unidirectional carbon tops, integrated into the steel grid with large areas of overlap. All bulkheads are laminated to hull and deck. There is a watertight bulkhead between the anchor
and the sail locker/crew cabin.

The hull and deck are built in sandwich with biaxial and unidirectional fiberglass and vinylester resin. The PVC core has different densities. Carbon reinforcements are placed in high load areas. The central part of the hull is full laminated, to improve the resistance to concentrated loads. The main reinforcement grid is made of galvanized high strength steel and it supports loads of keel, shrouds and mast, making extremely secure the integrity of the entire craft. Longitudinal and trasversal carbon reinforcements are laminated to the hull. All the bulkheads, where possible, are
laminated to hull and deck, ensuring to Italia 15.98 to be a very stiff boat.
